Associate of Applied Science
The Healthcare Data Technology program of study is designed to prepare students to work in office positions in hospitals, doctors' offices, health clinics, insurance companies, and other health-related organizations.
Healthcare Data Technology is a two-year program of study that requires courses in the vocational–technical core, designated areas of concentration, and the academic core.
Prospective graduates entering the program in the Fall of 2014 or the Spring of 2015 must complete a total of 64 hours to satisfy the requirements for an Associate of Applied Science degree. You can explore the course of study by clicking below.
The curriculum affords students the opportunity to earn certitications in both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Students who pass the certification exams will be awarded a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification from Microsoft.
Northeast Mississippi Community College is a Certiport Authorized Testing Center.
- Keyboarding, word processing, operating systems, and telecommunications
- Oral, written, and electronic communications
- Records management (both manual and electronic), medical information management
- CPT and ICD coding
- Human relations, work organization, 10-key calculator, machine transcription, accounting, medical terminology, and problem-solving skills
